Farm History: Rodney and Don Stackhouse grew up on their family’s dairy farm. Starting out with only five acres and ten cows, their dad steadily expanded the farm to 80 acres and incorporated stone tree fruit. After Rodney graduated in 1964 from California State University, Fresno, he made the decision to farm as well. The brothers continue to buy land to add to their father’s original acreage. At first, they primarily grew peaches to sell to canneries. Today they also grow almonds and other fresh stone fruit, including apricots, peaches, plums, nectarines, and pluots. They sell their produce at over 30 farmers’ markets along California’s Central Coast.

Pest Management: Stackhouse Brothers Orchards uses hanging pheromones (occasionally adding bacteria) to control pests in the summer. During the winter they use oil.
